The largest-scale golf resort in Hokkaido, from renewal to revival

The Tomakomai Golf Resort 72 benefits from an excellent access by car, being about 20 minutes from the New Chitose Airport and 45 minutes from Sapporo city via the "Doo Expressway".

　As its name suggests, the golf course has a large variety of 72 holes. It offers a wide range of entertaining situations depending on your level, from beginner to athletes/professionals. The course is set to fit every type of player as there are many visitors from both Japan and overseas, and with different levels.

　The attractivity of the Hokkaido golf courses comes from the fact that all courses are designed to include the vast and abundant nature. This is why, if you play near the Ezomatsu or the Kunugi trees areas, you might occasionally glimpse some "Kita Kitsune" (blue foxes), “Ezo Risu" (squirrels), or "Ezo Shika" (Deers).

The Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake occurred on September 6th, 2018. The area where the Tomakomai Gold Resort 72 is located suffered from shakings with a seismic intensity of lower 6 on the seven-point Japanese scale, during which the ceiling of the Clubhouse restaurant collapsed.

　"Luckily no one among the staff suffered from any injuries, and the course was left intact, so we resumed operations one week after the earthquake", said the manager Jun Ozawa. It was impossible to use the restaurant, so the emergency response was to use the convention hall for meals.

　The golf course renewal project started on this occasion of the reconstruction. In 2019, the 45th anniversary of its opening marks a new page in the resort's history, including the renewal of the Clubhouse.

The new restaurant, on the 2nd floor of the Clubhouse, aims at creating a space where you can discuss in a relaxing atmosphere like an airport lounge.A new bright and open terrace was set up on the 2nd floor, overlooking the golf course.

　"In Hokkaido, there is a food culture of enjoying daily (casual) barbecues. So we started offering delicious Genghis Khan on barbecues to enjoy from the terrace, with the desire to present a typical Hokkaido experience."

　You can savor Hokkaido's fresh seafood, in addition to the special raw lamb typical to the Genghis Khan.

　Have a beer with it and enjoy the pleasant breeze in this open and natural atmosphere.

Uncommon in Japan, the Tomakomai Golf Resort 72 has held Professional Golf Tournaments for both men and women.

　There has been numerous tours organized on the high-class South course. The East course challenges athletes with many long distance holes. The West course provides self-playing entertainment for beginners. Everything here allows you to enjoy a comfortable round thanks to the magnificent scenery and the unique refreshing air of Hokkaido.After playing, you can relieve this tiredness in the large public bath and the sauna.

　"We are delighted to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the resort's opening, and we will make every effort to maintain the quality of the course as well as the quality of our staff's capacities and service, so that our customers always have a wonderful time" said the manager Mr. Ozawa. From now on, the renewal will continue, to be able to celebrate 50 years, 60 years of building history of the resort.
